Our great-grandfather, Julius Melzer, bought the home place in 1882. It’s located
in Linden Township of Brown County Minnesota. Here’s a quote from the County
Plat Book in the early 1900s. “The home plat on this place was partially improved at the time Mr. Melzer bought it, but the remainder was wholly unimproved. He has brought it all up to an excellent state of cultivation. His barn, which is the second largest in the county, has steel stanchions and concrete floor and mangers, being thoroughly modern in every detail.” Our barn is still the one of the largest in the county, has been thoroughly modernized and is now the home of Melholm Stables. |
